How to Trigger a Countdown Upon Subscribe using Zapier

Zapier gives you the ability to use triggers to create different workflows which in turn make your business run more smoothly.

In this example, we will setup a trigger between Deadline Funnel and MailChimp, so that a countdown timer is started when someone joins a MailChimp list.

Integrate Deadline Funnel with Zapier

Note: Make sure you are logged into your Deadline Funnel account before you begin.

To start you're going to connect your Deadline Funnel account with your Zapier account, as shown below:

Setup a trigger between Zapier and MailChimp

In Zapier select 'Make A Zap!'

On the next screen you'll set up your trigger using Mailchimp:

You'll start by selecting Mailchimp, then select 'New Subscriber' as the trigger and hit Continue. Next verify that you're connecting to the correct Mailchimp account, sSelect the list you'll use to trigger the Deadline, and hit Continue.

It's going to ask you to test the integration, click 'Fetch & Continue' and it will take you to the next screen where you'll see a 'Test Successful!' message.

Setup the Deadline Funnel trigger with MailChimp

Now you'll need to set up the Action in your Zap, which will start the Deadline for your new subscriber.

Select Deadline Funnel, then 'Start Deadline' and hit Continue. Make sure you've integrated with the correct Deadline Funnel account. Select the Promotion (aka the campaign in Deadline Funnel that you want to use) from the first drop-down and then the Subscriber's email box in the second drop-down, and hit continue.
Verify that the information matches on the following screen and select Connect & Continue. You should see a 'Test Successful!' message here.
All that's left to do is to name your Zap and switch it on:

You can now test that the Zap is working by adding a new subscriber to your list in Mailchimp and verifying that the subscriber's email has been added under Event Tracking in Deadline Funnel. Please note that there can be a slight delay between Zapier and Deadline Funnel, so if it doesn't show up right away, simply check back in five to ten minutes. :)

Important Note about Expiring Links

For the integration to work you MUST use the Deadline Funnel  expiring links in any of your emails that link to a sales page with a countdown timer, or that link to a page in your funnel that links to another page with your countdown timer.
In other words, the API integration requires that your subscribers click one of the Deadline Funnel expiring links before they reach a page with a countdown. This is necessary in order to make sure each subscriber is assigned the correct deadline.
